Short answer
Fee validity varies by mission — commonly 30 days, 90 days or one year from payment. Inside that window you can book and reschedule; once it lapses the receipt cannot be used and you must pay again.
Why the rule works this way
The validity window exists so missions can close out accounting periods. It is printed on the receipt and shown in the portal profile.
For Taiwan, appointments in India run through Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) under Bureau of Consular Affairs, Taiwan, with indicative processing of 5–10 working days. The rule above applies at every Indian centre serving this mission.
